Timber and glass staircase supplied for a Melbourne residential project by SupplyNet

The saving depends on your scope, your specification and your volume. We quote a real landed figure for your job so you compare like for like.

What drives the cost

Stair cost is driven by the structure and the finish. Steel stringer fabrication, engineered timber tread species and thickness, glass balustrade type, frameless versus semi-frameless, fixings and the structural engineering all move the number. Custom geometry and site measure add to it. It is a package where small specification changes have a large cost effect.

The compliance you cannot skip

Stairs and balustrades are life safety elements. The build has to meet the NCC requirements for balustrade height and barrier loading, and structural glass has to comply with AS1288. The fix is to confirm the engineering and the glass specification before fabrication, so what lands on site passes certification first time.

The risk is misread drawings, QA surprises and transit damage to long steel and glass elements. Those are closed upstream with drawing sign off, factory QA and staged delivery. See custom staircases and balustrades supply for the full scope.

Do not compare unit price to unit price. Compare the delivered, installed, compliant stair. Put freight, duties, QA, engineering, drawing coordination and any local install on both sides of the ledger. The honest comparison is the full package, landed and accountable.
